Going green is not only great for the planet – it can also be great for your bottom line!  Business strategies that reduce waste and make the most of existing resources can lower your costs on supplies and utilities.  And a “green” business profile will also help you attract more environmentally-conscious customers!  Here are some ideas for making your business greener:

• Use products made from recycled and/or recyclable materials, such as recycled paper.
• Choose reusable products over disposable ones whenever possible.
• Go “paperless” by replacing your paperwork with computer records.
• Consider renewable materials (such as bamboo) and renewable energy sources (such as solar panels).
• Consume less power by turning off lights and equipment when not in use.
• Make sure your office space is well insulated in the winter to reduce heating needs.
• When possible, use fans and open windows rather than air-conditioning to cool the office.  
• If air-conditioning must be used, be sure all windows and doors are closed.
• Use compact fluorescent bulbs, which are more energy-efficient that standard light bulbs.
• Use a hybrid vehicle as your company car or truck.
• Encourage employees to telecommute, car-pool, or take public transit to work to reduce fuel consumption.
